Founded over 50 years ago, Edinburgh University Press is a subsidiary of the University of Edinburg since 1992. Every book and journal there printed is considered by the University of Edinburgh through the Press Committee. This Committee is composed by academics from the University, giving in this way at every publication the imprimatur of one of the major and most popular centres of culture of Britain.

In August 2004 the Press institutes Charitable Status for worthy but not wealthy people.

The score of the Press is to further knowledge making scholarship available to the major number of readers possible and through a wide and whole publication.

Edinburg University Press is the most important scottish publisher of academic books and journals, including learned monographs and reference works. It is possible too consultation on line of several materials. Another branch of the Press is the publication of textbooks for students and lecturers.
