自二十世紀八十年代起，"中日韓電影" 逐漸成為一個舉世矚目的 "標籤"。偶然，它又會換上 "東亞電影" 的外衣，馳騁於五湖四海。這個不成文的 "共同體" 已成為探討東亞歷史、文化和社會現狀的重要素材。中日韓電影是各地文化的一面鏡子，反映著當地人民有別於他人的歷史記憶和感情印記。有見及此，本書希望透過深入的研究及辯證，探討中日韓電影各自的本土特質。特別是通過分析各地電影人對暴力、愛情、兩性和世代交替這四項備受關注的議題所作出的不同詮釋，窺探他們在殖民、去殖民與現代化等方面的歷史經驗，從而發掘出一種能夠真正欣賞中日韓電影的跨時代、跨國界及跨學科的宏觀視野。本書適合所有對中日韓電影、歷史、社會和文化感興趣的讀者，也誠意推薦給東亞研究、文化研究及電影研究的專家。
