In this volume, we have placed three essays concerning the history of philosophy in general before the thematic focus. These general essays comprise a new discussion of scepticism, an analysis of logical atomism, and a discussion of the concept of number. The thematic focus concerning the practical syllogism was organized by our colleagues Christof Rapp and Philipp Brüllmann, Berlin. For this, we would like to thank them. They have succeeded in putting together an impressive sequence of interlocking essays about a perennially important topic from ancient philosophy. Although for the most part originally presented as contributions to a conference, all articles were submitted to the usual refereeing process. We also would like to thank Marcel Wrzesinski, who as editorial assistant has helped to shape the present volume, and our publisher, mentis, for the constant and fruitful cooperation.

In diesem Band haben wir drei Artikel zur Philosophiegeschichte im Allgemeinen dem Schwerpunktthema vorangestellt. Zu den allgemeinen Artikeln gehören eine neue Diskussion des Skeptizismus, eine Analyse des logischen Atomismus sowie eine Diskussion des Zahlbegriffs. Der thematische Schwerpunkt zum praktischen Syllogismus ist von unseren Kollegen Christof Rapp und Philipp Brüllmann, Berlin, organisiert worden. Dafür möchten wir uns bei ihnen bedanken. Es ist ihnen gelungen, eine beeindruckende Reihe von ineinandergreifenden Artikeln zu einem bleibend wichtigen Thema aus der antiken Philosophie zusammenzustellen. Die Artikel wurden – obgleich in den meisten Fällen zunächst als Konferenzbeiträge vorgestellt – alle dem üblichen Begutachtungsverfahren unterzogen.
